Firmicutes-Bacteroidetes ratio

Numerous studies conducted in recent years have shown a connection between body weight and individual intestinal flora. These showed: The lower the proportion of the Firmicutes bacterial strains (or the higher the proportion of Bacteroidetes), the lower the body weight. The measurement of the Firmicutes/Bacteroidenes ratio therefore enables the examination of the diet or provides the starting point for a change of diet. This is a meaningful examination in cases of metabolic syndrome.
