Overview of laboratory services

The genetic information contained in each individual cell represents the basis of all life processes. Not only are all physical characteristics and metabolic processes encoded in the genes, but also genetic predispositions for diseases. The presence of certain changes in genetic information, e.g. in the form of point mutations, can lead to a wide variety of diseases. Appropriate genetic tests can help to diagnose a number of these genetic disease predispositions. Our laboratory will determine the presence of the factor V Leiden mutation and other genetic alterations in the context of hypercoagulability diagnostics, as well as some important mutations that predispose to coeliac disease or lactose and fructose intolerance, and a mutation in the HLA-B27 gene that represents a predisposition to rheumatic diseases.
